Step 1: Literal Connection: Look at the picture of the dipnet and watch a video(s) at the top of this page. Discuss what the children see. Brainstorm questions. Step 2: Interpretation/Task 1. Watch the above video and answer the questions embedded in the video. 2. From an Aboriginal or non-Aboriginal point of view, talk, write or demonstrate your views on dipnetting and salmon sustainability. 3.Click on the link below to watch a contextual story that integrates mathematical thinking Small Number and the Salmon Harvest. 4. Students work collaboratively to explore/research/answer questions that they had about salmon and dipnet fishing. Step 3: Evaluation/Interpretation: Students present their findings through graphs, pictures, presentations or media. |
